Cesium chloride, CAS 7647-17-8
analytical grade
CsCl • Mr 168.4
For density gradient centrifugation. Cesium chloride is probably the most widely used
density gradient medium. It gives shallow gradients and is good for fractionating molecules
which are disperse in density. It has been used in the isolation of nucleic acids (including
double-stranded RNA and closed circular DNA) as well as ribosomal subunits, proteins,
glycoproteins and viruses.
SERVA analytical grade CsCl offers outstanding quality:
Results are not adversely affected by the presence of contaminants.
Extremely low absorbance: largely devoid of interfering components which can absorb in
the UV range, A 260 of a 50 % solution in water max. 0.02
(1 cm light path).
