Catalase can be found in tissues from animals, plants and microorganisms. Mammalian liver contains high concentrations of the enzyme. This Catalase is derived from Bovine liver and is a lyophilized salt free product. Bovine Liver Catalase has an approximate molecular weight of 240,000 with four equally sized subunits.

Unit definition: 1 U catalyzes the cleavage of 1 µmole hydrogen peroxide per minute to water and oxygen at 25 °C, pH 7.0. The decrease in hydrogen peroxide concentration can be followed spectrophotometrically at 240 nm.
