Glucose Oxidase

Glucose Oxidase from Aspergillus Niger with a minimum of activity of 225U/mg protein

Glucose oxidase or GOx  catalyzes the oxidation of β-D-glucose into D-glucono-1,5-lactone, which then hydrolyzes to gluconic acid. It is used to determine free glucose in body fluids (diagnostics), in vegetal raw material, and in the food industry. Additionally it has applications in biotechnologies, typically enzyme assays for biochemistry including biosensors in nanotechnologies.

  • Activity:225U/mg protein
  • MW: 160000
  • Purity: 90 to 95%
  • Form: Freeze dried
  • Extraneous activities: Amylase, saccharase and maltase less than 0.05 %
  • Catalse: < 0.3%
Notes:
Unit definition: 1 U catalyzes the oxidation of 1 µmole glucose to glucuronic acid per minute at 25 °C, pH 7 coupled with peroxidase and o-dianisidine (1).

Inhibitors: p-chloromercuribenzoate, heavy metal ions, hydroxylamine, hydrazine, sodium bisulphite.
